Nadene Gole has finished T5 at the 61st US Senior Women’s Amateur Championship after reaching the quarterfinal at Troon Country Club, Arizona. Nadene went down to the eventual event winner Sarah Gallagher 2&1. It was her 16th top 5 result from 17 starts at world ranking events since September last year. The impressive record includes eight wins. 

This year’s US Senior Women’s Amateur Championship attracted a record 594 entries with 132 of the world’s best players contesting the event after the completion of numerous pre-qualifying events staged across the US. Nadene was one of 34 exempt players, earning her place in the final field via her runner-up finish at the R&A British Senior Women’s Amateur Championship in July and also her world No. 1 senior amateur ranking. Nadene reached the quarter-final stage in Arizona after scoring matchplay victories over three past US Senior Women’s Amateur champions.

Nadene’s Summary

– 36 Holes Strokeplay. Seeded 34. (Top 64 proceed to matchplay).

– Round 64. Defeated 2012 US Senior Women’s Amateur champion Terri Frohnmayer 4&2.

– Round 32. Defeated the second-seeded player, three-time US Senior Women’s Amateur & four-time US Women’s Mid-Amateur champion Ellen Port 4&3.

– Round 16. Defeated 2017 US Senior Women’s Amateur champion Judith Kyrinis at the 19th hole. Nadene was three down with three holes to play and finished birdie, birdie, par and then birdied the 19th hole for victory and a spot in the quarterfinal. Of note, the pair’s 4BBB for the final 12 holes was a staggering 10-under.  

– Quarter Final. Lost to Sarah Gallagher 2&1. Nadene was the last remaining non-American in the draw.
